Groundlings Theatre Map

Groundlings Theatre occupies a converted Victorian warehouse on Kent Street in Portsmouth’s historic quarter, just north of the city centre. The intimate 80-seat performance space has become a hub for experimental theatre, comedy, and live music since opening in the early 2000s. Housed in a listed building with original exposed brickwork and wooden beams, the venue retains character whilst hosting everything from stand-up nights to fringe productions and solo shows.

The theatre sits within easy walking distance of Portsmouth Harbour railway station and the seafront attractions. Its small scale makes it popular with independent producers and emerging artists seeking an alternative to larger commercial venues. The bar area doubles as a casual meeting space, and the venue regularly collaborates with local arts organisations. Groundlings has become known for curating eclectic programming that reflects Portsmouth’s creative community, drawing audiences from across the south coast.
